The Wedding of Savannah & Marcus

Savannah & Marcus held their wedding reception in Alabaster at Victoria Park with ceremony on-site on the Alabaster Terrace. Recently the pair sat down to discuss their big day with the Victoria Park team.

Tell us about your journey together, from how you met, to what the proposal was like!

We first met at a nightclub here in Brisbane 7 years ago.. not where all love stories begin but we have been pretty much inseparable ever since! The proposal happened on a trip to Port Douglas and Cairns in October 2020 and we had the wedding booked and planned by Christmas. Getting married really has completed our relationship and united us together like never before.

What (besides the obvious ‘I do’) was your favourite part of your wedding?

How fun the whole day was! Everyone I spoke to before our wedding said the day is hard to enjoy because you are constantly mingling and speaking with guests. We made a conscious effort to only invite our nearest and dearest friends and family and we truly believe it made the whole vibe of our wedding and everyone commented on it. Also the speeches were the most emotional and heart warming part!

Tell us about your decorations and wedding styling – did you incorporate anything new / a theme? What did you choose for your wedding entertainment and guest favors?

Our theme was mostly neutral and white! We had champagne and white styling for our reception and our bridesmaids dresses were a beautiful grey/silver and the grooms in classic black and white suits. We don’t like a lot of color usually so we kept it true to our style.

We chose a DJ for wedding entertainment. We love music and it again was true to us not trying to change who we were just to suit “wedding styles.”

We didn’t do guest favors, personally I think they are out dated and everyone I spoke to said guests leave them on the table at the end of the night and it just turns into an added cost that didn’t seem worth it to us.

What’s the best piece of advice you can give other brides to be?

Keep true to your style and what you truly want on your day. It can get overwhelming trying to please everyone that is coming but remember it is your day! My husband was very good at reminding me of this when planning our day.

Would you recommend Victoria Park to other people getting married?

100%! The actual running of the day was so seamless. Everyone was so accommodating and honestly couldn’t have gone better on the day.
