The Wedding of Mitch & Jane

Mitch & Jane held their wedding reception in the Marquee at Victoria Park. Recently the pair sat down to discuss their big day with the Victoria Park team.

Tell us about your journey together, from how you met, to what the proposal was like!

Mitch and I were together for 4 years when we got married. We met through mutual friends playing touch football in the same team. We were good mates for a few months before we took the next step in our relationship.

Mitch proposed on our 3rd year anniversary, he took me to ‘One Tree Hill’ in Maleny for a picnic and he got down on one knee and proposed with the Glass House Mountains in the background. It was all very romantic. All the while getting the entire event photographed by our ‘secret photographer’ Sinead, who also captured our wedding day.

What (besides the obvious ‘I do’) was your favourite part of your wedding?

Every aspect of our wedding was amazing. We had such a fun and loving bridal party which made for a great start to the day, which just continued throughout the day.

We both really enjoyed the post ceremony photos in the Parklands with the buggies – it was so casual yet so much fun (especially for a couple that aren’t big on photos). The grounds were just beautiful, you honestly couldn’t get a bad photo.

We also enjoyed our first dance. We had a choreographed dance done and being able to perform it in front of our loved ones, was so much fun. We were lucky enough to have an open dance floor as well, which was incredible. We had a great space to dance the night away.

Tell us about your decorations and wedding styling – did you incorporate anything new / a theme? What did you choose for your wedding entertainment and guest favors?

Our styling was simple and elegant. We went ‘Hamptoms’ style, focusing on colours of sage green, blush pinks and white. We wanted the venue to really speak for itself, with simple table settings. We brought the design of our invitations of green/white florals throughout our styling, to name tags/ seating plan/ welcome signs/ table numbers etc.

We went with a 3-piece band who were fantastic and were really able to create the perfect moods throughout the evening.

For guest favours we wanted something fun and easy, so we made lolly bags for everyone incorporating our favourite treats in beautiful organza bags.

What’s the best piece of advice you can give other brides to be?

Everyone says the day goes really quickly – it definitely does. Take a moment or two with your new husband/wife and really soak in the moment of what you’ve both done.

Accept that some things may be out of your control when the day comes around/ in the planning process – don’t stress the small stuff – remember those who are there at your wedding love and support you and want you to have a great day.

Would you recommend Victoria Park to other people getting married?

100%, we were thrown a curve ball in our planning with an unexpected cancellation of a different venue. However, the team at Victoria Park, Britt and Jen – were so amazing and made for a very easy and stress-free planning process. The venue is so stunning both in the Marquee and the outdoor terrace.
