The Wedding of Trang & Ray
Trang and Ray held their wedding reception in Ballroom at Victoria Park. Recently the pair sat down to discuss their big day with the Victoria Park team.
Tell us about your journey together, from how you met, to what the proposal was like!
Our journey started through playing on the same team of touch football with various mutual friends. Funnily enough, the both of us did not talk to each other till end of the season! Our touch football team unfortunately did not last further than the season, but that did not stop our relationship from blooming.
Six years on, Ray secretly collaborated with my best friend for the proposal. She organised a ‘girls day trip’ to Byron Bay and unbeknown to me, Ray shows up with a beaming smile.
What (besides the obvious ‘I do’) was your favourite part of your wedding?
Our favourite part was being able to share our union with our beloved family and friends. Given the unprecedented times and restrictions, it was such an ecstatic experience to have everyone gathered just for us. We were very grateful for our incredible photographer, Luke, and videographer, Lyndon, for being able to capture all the beautiful moments so we can reminisce the day again.
Tell us about your decorations and wedding styling – did you incorporate anything new / a theme? What did you choose for your wedding entertainment and guest favors?
I would describe our wedding theme as simple, clean and modern elegant. The Ballroom had undertaken refurbishing which enhanced the space and visual appeal of the function room. The wonderful team from Beautiful Weddings styled our wedding from ceremony, to florals, to reception.
For additional styling, we also had the efficient team from Staging Creations create a stunning white gloss bridal table and dancefloor. Then had G&M Event Group swooping in with Sparkulars to create impact during highlights throughout the night and a whimsical dreamy cloud to cover both our two left feet during our first dance. For our entertainment we had a spirited lion dance performance, a photobooth to capture silly selfies, the lovely Eugenie Zhan illustrating tirelessly throughout the night, and a DJ to dance the night away.
What’s the best piece of advice you can give other brides to be?
Don’t try to control or stress over every little detail, just relax (and breathe) and let the people and your planners/coordinators do what they do best. Take the time to look around and see how happy your family, friends and guests are.
Would you recommend Victoria Park to other people getting married?
Yes, highly recommend! It is a central location, various beautiful function locations to choose from, heaps of onsite parking, incredible and friendly staff.
