The Wedding Of Makenzie and David

Tell us about your journey together, from how you met, to what the proposal was like!
David and I met when we were 17 years old working in hospitality. It was at my 18th birthday party that David showed interest and we had our first date a couple of days later. Fast forward several years and we graduated university, travelled abroad, bought our first home, and even welcomed our fur child together.
Unbeknownst to me, David had planned to propose during our holiday to the UK in September 2022. We went for an early morning walk in Hyde Park London, and when we had stopped near the pond to watch the sunrise, David popped the question. I was so happy in that moment that he chose my favourite city to propose in, and the rest of the holiday felt like a celebration of our engagement.

What does marriage mean to you?
Marriage means supporting your partner every day, loving them unconditionally, and doing things they love even if you don’t.
What, besides the obvious ‘I Do’, was your favourite part of your wedding?
Our favourite part of our wedding was celebrating our marriage with all of our loved ones and being grateful for the support they had provided us individually and as a couple in the lead up to our wedding.
What traditions, new and old, did you incorporate in to your wedding and why?
Our wedding was pretty traditional in the sense that we didn’t see each other before the ceremony, did a father-daughter dance, had speeches and did a cake cutting. Some non-traditional elements of our wedding included the bridesmaids wearing ivory dresses, and not having a bridal table so that our bridal party could sit with their partners.
Tell us about your decorations and wedding styling!
We engaged Beautiful Weddings to do our styling and we opted for an ivory colour scheme because we loved the timeless and elegant look. I also knew I wanted to have some input into the styling so I created our wedding menus, place cards and table numbers. We even created QR code signs for our guests to use the guest cam feature with our photo booth. Our reception was in the Garden Marquee which was already a stunning room with the city skyline, so we didn’t feel the need to go too overboard with styling.
What’s the best piece of advice you can give other couples planning their wedding?
Be organised! There are so many working parts in planning a wedding from the location, vendors, guests, styling, etc. that it can get very overwhelming if you don’t stay on top of your due dates and expenses. I found using excel spreadsheets to be of great assistance with this.
What was your experience like with Victoria Park
We are really grateful for Loz who was our wedding planner. She was there whenever we needed our queries answered and went above and beyond to ensure our day went as planned.
A special thanks to those who helped bring Mackenzie and David’s dream day to life.
