Rose & Taape celebrated their beautiful wedding in the Courtyard and Alabaster at Victoria Park. Recently the pair sat down with the Victoria Park Weddings team to discuss the details of their beautiful big day.

Tell us about your journey together, from how you met, to what the proposal was like!

Our journey started nearly nine years ago when we met in New Zealand. We have been living in Brisbane for some years now and got engaged three years ago on the Gold Coast. I had no idea it was about to happen and it was the most surprised I have ever been!

What does marriage mean to you?

Doing life with your best friend, having a family, and making the most out of every day with the one you love.

Rose & Taape Wedding Ceremony | Victoria Park Weddings

What (besides the obvious “I do” was your favourite part of your wedding?

It was so special to have our families come together from different countries to witness our marriage and celebrate with us!

What traditions, new and old, did you incorporate into your wedding and why?

My Mother in Law, Lusia, made 65 beautiful woven necklaces (Samoan Ula) and each guest was given one as they entered the reception. It was really special to be able to incorporate that.

Rose Walking Down The Aisle

Tell us about your decorations and wedding styling – did you incorporate anything new/ a theme?

We chose a small business, Believents, for our styling. I told them the colour theme, and they really provided the most beautiful table setting decor, flower centrepieces, and wedding favours.

Take us through your planning journey, were there any vendors that were more important than others?

Osmic productions – Belle was our celebrant and MC and we also had our DJ through Osmic. Belle was absolutely amazing in the lead-up to the wedding and on the day! We cannot thank her enough!

Floral Arbour Arch In The Courtyard

What’s the best piece of advice you can give other brides to be?

To really enjoy the planning stage! It is such a special process, deciding on suppliers to create your perfect day! I had so much fun speaking to different suppliers. Also, decide on a budget that’s right for you and stick to it! It is really easy for things to add up quickly! Having a budget and tracking the cost of everything helps.

Why did you choose Victoria Park and would you recommend our venue to other couples getting married?

Victoria Park was the perfect venue! With family arriving from overseas it was important to have the ceremony and reception at the same venue and Victoria Park had great options to choose from! Thanks to the excellent organisation and communication from the Victoria Park weddings team in the lead-up to our wedding we did not have to worry about a thing and could enjoy every minute of our special day. Also, the park provided the perfect location for our photos, and they turned out great!

Chelsea and Jacob celebrated their beautiful wedding in Brisbane at Victoria Park, a heartfelt gathering that blossomed amidst the elegance of the Courtyard and Garden Marquee.

Tell us about your journey together, from how you met, to what the proposal was like!

Jacob and I both worked for the same company, however had never met one another until our work created a work football team! From there, sparks flew and we had a strong connection on and off the field. We still play in the same mixed comp today! We had been together for about 5 years before he proposed. He decided to propose on his 30th birthday (so he never forgets the date) and we got married the day before his 31st. It was a beautiful proposal along the rocks by a beach whilst we were away camping with his family.

What does marriage mean to you?

Marriage for us means loving one another unconditionally and growing together, both in life and age!

What (besides the obvious “I do” was your favourite part of your wedding?

Our whole day was absolutely perfect, but our favourite part was having ALL our family and friends together!

What traditions, new and old, did you incorporate into your wedding and why?

We did something blue, new, old, borrowed. My family also sang a song after my dad’s speech to represent part of my culture.

Tell us about your decorations and wedding styling – did you incorporate anything new/ a theme?

We did a garden theme as we were in the Garden Marquee and thought it would be the best fit! It was stunning, we did sage favour cookies for the guests and had a live band!

What’s the best piece of advice you can give other brides to be?

Stress less about the little finer details! All the love and fun you have throughout the day trumps everything! Take in every moment as much as you can because the day just flies.

We’re so thankful we were able to be part of your special day!
Why did you choose Victoria Park and would you recommend our venue to other couples getting married?

We chose Victoria Park as it was absolutely stunning, and very good value for money. It had been recommended by another friend and the process seemed really simple as the customer service team were very responsive.

I would absolutely choose Victoria Park again, everything was amazing. Our family and friends have been to many weddings over the last couple of years but we had so much good feedback saying the food at ours was by far the best!

Embark on the beautiful story of Mary & Mitchell’s wedding, a heartfelt celebration of coming together that blossomed within the stunning beauty of Victoria Park’s Marquee.

Tell us about your journey together, from how you met, to what the proposal was like!

We met in 2016 when Mary was studying on the Gold Coast and Mitch, living in Robina at the time, was looking for a housemate. A friend of Mary’s moved in with Mitch and naturally a lot of events were shared at the house leading Mitch, Mary, the housemate and other friends to form a little crew. After hanging out all the time, we grew closer and when Mitch moved to Maryborough for work, not even the four-hour distance could put out the flame between us.

After planning a trip to Vancouver for Mitch to meet Mary’s family, who welcomed him with open arms, Mitch decided to propose. A small surprise gathering of 20 people was organized with Mary non-the-wiser, believing she was having lunch with Mitch’s Grandmother. After the surprise of her life and Mitch finding the courage to get down on one knee, Mary checked if Mitch was joking or not before making the best decision to accept his proposal! Since then we have been inseparable and each other’s motivation, mentors and best friends.

What (besides the obvious “I do” was your favourite part of your wedding?

Our favourite part of the wedding was having the two cultures come together so seamlessly and having our closest family and friends present from all over the country and the world.

Tell us about your decorations and wedding styling – did you incorporate anything new/ a theme?

We predominantly utilised the preferred suppliers of Victoria Park, such as G&M, Wedding Dance Diva, and Beautiful Weddings, who we worked closely with to incorporate a ‘Sofreh Aghd’ which is the traditional Persian wedding table to conduct the Persian wedding ceremony. As a special touch, our celebrant was Bishop Ken Howell, who actually married Mitch’s parents 32 year before.

What’s the best piece of advice you can give other brides to be?

Just remember – everything will come together. All the planning and the stress leading up to the big day will be worth it in the end. Have the people YOU want at your wedding, not just the people that want to be there or the people that you feel obligated to invite. This is YOUR day, never forget that. The day will become a memory before you realise it, so enjoy every moment. Rely on the people who are there to support you such as your wedding coordinator, MC, Bridal party – because at the end of the day they are all there for you.

Would you recommend Victoria Park to other people getting married?

Absolutely! – We could not recommend them more. The venue was perfect and the engagement of the staff was impeccable. The staff at Victoria Park have shown they are passionate about their job which truly reflects in their day-to-day interactions with their clients. We would highly recommend Victoria Park for anyone who wants a beautiful venue with passionate staff who go above and beyond.

Plan Your Special Day at Victoria Park

Ellie and Isaac held their wedding reception in Marquee at Victoria Park. Recently the pair sat down to discuss their big day with the Victoria Park team.

Tell us about your journey together, from how you met, to what the proposal was like!

Isaac and I met 7 years ago and started dating within the first month of knowing each other. We have travelled Europe together, the UK, Honolulu and Maui and many trips domestically. We have a beautiful Rottweiler named Duke, and in the past 2 years we have gotten engaged and rebuilt our home, all while planning a wedding and getting married.

Isaac proposed on our 5th year anniversary completely unplanned at home right before going to dinner. He had planned to propose at Noosa that weekend, but wasn’t able to because of the snap lockdowns in 2021, instead now the 29th of July is extra special. We still did our picnic at Noosa as he planned but now, we have 2 special days to remember. We also got married on the 29th, so you could definitely say 29 is our number!

What (besides the obvious ‘I do’) was your favourite part of your wedding?

Having all our beautiful family and friends together in the same place at the same time. We had guests travel from all over Australia and the Netherlands, so to have them all together celebrating our day felt very special and very surreal at times. We loved having our ceremony in the Greek Church – having that tradition from my family but also loved having our photos taken at sunset on the hills at Victoria Park – was something very special for Isaac. We also loved everyone getting involved into Greek dancing, and being up on the dance floor celebrating our night.

Tell us about your decorations and wedding styling – did you incorporate anything new / a theme? What did you choose for your wedding entertainment and guest favours?

For our styling, we took a few ideas from different places and joined them all together. I’m a colour person, so originally our florals were going to be colourful. However the more photos we saw, the more we liked the idea of a more timeless theme. All our stationery was black and white, including table numbers, menus, welcome sign and seating chart, and guest book. Our guest favours were clear acrylic boxes with our initials printed on the front.

We had our dance floor and elevated bridal table installed by staging creations, which we loved as our bridal party could see all our guests from our table. Our florist and I spoke a lot about incorporating bright, green foliage into our white floral pieces to create a fresh tropical feel at our reception. We love the coast, and beach so wanted to incorporate those themes, as well as the traditional feel of having our ceremony in a church – the feeling of both our families together. We hired lots of candles, made our cake the centrepiece of our dance floor, which was great as the whole cake got eaten and nothing went to waste. For our guest menus we made them double-sided with guest names on one side, and menu on the other- saving on additional name cards and stationery. We loved how our whole room came together!

The black and white theme also carried through with all the boys in black tux, and my bridesmaids wore blush which gave a pop of colour against the white and green flowers.

What’s the best piece of advice you can give other brides to be?

Soak it all up! From the night before and the morning of with your bridal party, parents, and family, to your last song at your reception, enjoy it all. Laugh lots, embrace having all your special people together, and enjoy celebrating the love you both share together.

We made the most of our whole day and appreciated all the little moments. Our photos say it all – we really had the best day and couldn’t keep the smiles off our faces.

Would you recommend Victoria Park to other people getting married?

We would definitely recommend Victoria Park. We knew after attending a charity ball there 2 years prior that it was where we wanted our reception to be. The beautiful green scenery, and city background are great for photos, and we loved how open the inside and outside areas are.

A big tick for both of us was the food, which was what originally drew us to the venue, and being able to place bottle of spirits on each guest table. We booked the Marquee which had its own massive bar, and deck with a stage for our band to play during canapes. The golf buggy’s for our bridal party photos were also very a fun and different thing to do.

Tell us about your journey together, from how you met, to what the proposal was like!

Etienne and I met on Tinder when it was first created. Our relationship flourished through our shared love of travelling and experiencing new cultures. We had been together for just over six years before he proposed. We actually had a trip to Iceland planned in 2019, and I thought he was going to propose there. Little did I know that, although that was his original plan, he was too excited once he purchased the ring, and he ended up proposing at home instead. Etienne completely surprised me with a romantic proposal at home after I had finished work.

We initially planned to get married in October 2020, but the pandemic had other plans. Since then, we postponed our wedding twice, bought a house, and welcomed two dogs into our family. Finally, we managed to tie the knot with all our friends and family in attendance on February 5, 2022

What (besides the obvious “I do” was your favourite part of your wedding?

The reception! Having all of our friends and family in the one room happy and having a good time was such an amazing experience.

Tell us about your decorations and wedding styling – did you incorporate anything new/ a theme? What did you choose for your wedding entertainment and guest favours?

Our decorations were a lot of greenery and candles. I love the warm light that candles give, they gave everything a warm and relaxed type of vibe. I just wanted something simple that looked cohesive with the rest of our decorations.

Victoria Park Wedding Reception Garden Marquee

What did you choose for your wedding entertainment and guest favors?

We chose our DJ as recommended by Victoria Park – GM Group. Our DJ was amazing. We have her a song list compiled by us and our guests prior to the wedding but hen also told her what kind of music we liked and that we were also open to any of her ideas. As soon as the dance floor was open, it was never not occupied. She also got an encore after she called the last song, which wrapped up our wedding perfectly.

Our guest favors were salted caramel flavoured popcorn from Clouds of Sweet Favors. They were lovely and enjoyed as a snack by our guests at any point during the reception or were taken home.

What’s the best piece of advice you can give other brides to be?

Try not to be overwhelmed by planning a wedding. Break it down, write your notes down and start your research and booking things early. Do small parts everyday and enjoy it. The whole day goes by so quickly. Enjoy it.

Would you recommend Victoria Park to other people getting married?

Absolutely! Having your own wedding planner who knows what she is doing made planning (and having to postpone twice) a wedding in the middle of the pandemic so easy. The team at Victoria Park are a professional well-oiled machine and have an answer to every question you could possibly have.  They went out of their way to make our wedding so incredibly enjoyable.

Embark on the captivating journey of Stephanie and Irin’s wedding, a heartfelt celebration of love that blossomed within the stunning beauty of Victoria Park’s Garden Marquee.

Tell us about your journey together, from how you met, to what the proposal was like!

We’ve come a long way from when we first met 8 years ago through mutual friends. We were holidaying in New Zealand, and Irin was obsessed with finding a clear night sky. Unfortunately, it was cloudy most nights, but we had such a great time regardless, so I didn’t understand why he was so stressed. That was until a clear night finally appeared, and he proposed to me under the stars with a light-up ring box! I think I stood there in shock for a good five minutes!

What (besides the obvious “I do” was your favourite part of your wedding?

We had lion dancers as our surprise entertainment, and they came rolling in during the middle of our first dance. Our guests thought it was amazing, and personally, it was great to give them a break from my horrible dancing!

Tell us about your decorations and wedding styling – did you incorporate anything new/ a theme? What did you choose for your wedding entertainment and guest favours?

We wanted a light and airy theme, so opted for white with greenery, Our dress code was black tie, so the guests looked absolutely stunning in contrast to the white décor.

What’s the best piece of advice you can give other brides to be?

Everything won’t be exactly as planned, but what’s most important is that you take a step back and fully enjoy what will be one of the best days of your life. Blink and you’ll miss it!

Would you recommend Victoria Park to other people getting married?

We definitely would. Our planner and function manager were incredibly helpful and made the whole day run smoothly. We knew that we could contact them any time we had a question, and they responded very quickly.
