Tips and Tricks to Successfully Planning Your Halloween Party

How to plan the best Halloween party this scary season

There is an ongoing rise in the popularity of Halloween here in Australia, and everyone here at Victoria Park lives for a reason to plan, celebrate and have some fun! Halloween brings a tremendous amount of fun for people of all ages. Below are some insightful tips on how you can bring the fun home for a Halloween party.

1. Determine your guest list

Since you are planning a party in your home, you want to make sure that you invite just the right amount of party goers that your space can accommodate. Once you determine the number of guests your home can host, decide if you would like to invite adults only or both children and adults for a family fun environment. Determining your audience will also help you assess your decor and party theme.

2. Invitations

Once you’ve compiled your party guest list, you can now create your Halloween themed invitations. To give your guests enough time to plan ahead for your event, send the invitations out three weeks before your party date. To simplify this process, create an online request so that your messages can be sent digitally. Creating digital invitations will allow you to manage and organise your RSVPs efficiently. If you’re planning on dressing scary don’t forgot to tell everyone else it’s a dress up party!

3. Decorations

Onto more excitement! If you are entertaining both children and adults, you may want to keep the scare factors mild when it comes to decor. For a less terrifying experience, try the traditional orange and black colour scheme or a simple pumpkin theme. If you decide to have an “adult only” Halloween party, you can choose to do a haunted house theme using flickering lights and hire actors to scare your guests! Otherwise, aim for a more sophisticated look and feel through a thematic cocktail party. For some additional inspiration, visit Pottery Barn’s Halloween collection!.

4. Food & Drink

Excite your young party goers with a delightful treat table and Halloween themed cupcakes for themed cupcakes and cookies to bring your table to life. Every guest will be looking for a lolly to snack on, or to take home with them. Grab a few clear bowls and place Halloween themed candy, such as allseps black cats and candy corn lollies, inside. If you’re in a bit of a time crunch, place a candy order with an online confectionary and lolly shop to get them delivered right to you. In addition to your sweet treats, delight your guests with savoury choices like a mummy sausage roll or pigs in a blanket serpent. Greet your guests with the perfect Spring themed drink– a refreshing strawberry vodka cup that you’ve prepared in advance! Keep the food and drinks festive but simple so that you leave enough time for you to enjoy all of the fun too!

5. Music & Games

Keep your guests entertained through a classic Halloween inspired playlist. If you have a larger budget, hire on a DJ and allow them to set the tone for the night. Stir your guests interest by enabling them to compete in a best-dressed competition. Feel free to appoint two judges to choose one or two guests with the best Halloween costume. Reward them with a freebie of your choice without spooking your wallet!
