The Wedding of Hannah and Daniel

Hannah and Daniel married on a picture perfect afternoon in the Ballroom at Victoria Park. Recently Hanah sat down to discuss their big day with the Victoria Park team.

Tell us about your journey together, from how you met, to what the proposal was like.

Dan and I knew of each other since we were 16 and 18 respectively. My sister tried a few times over the years to set us up but it didn’t go to plan. About three years later, I think it was before or after a netball game, I was meeting up to have dinner with friends and Dan happened to be there. He tells me this was the moment that he really ‘saw me’ and things snowballed from there. We had been dating for about five years when he proposed to me on a holiday in Tasmania. I should have known something was up as we had spent the last few days hiking in cradle mountain (Dan hates hiking) and he hadn’t complained once!

What (besides the obvious ‘I do’ was your favourite part of your wedding?

There are two things I would say were my favourite part of the day. First was getting ready, spending time with our nearest and dearest – there was so much excitement in the room! The second would be walking into the ceremony and seeing Dan for the first time. I had tunnel vision and couldn’t stop smiling.

Tell us about your decorations and wedding styling. Did you incorporate a theme?

I kept everything fairly simple and timeless. I had a white and green floral theme for the wedding and the guests each got either a small candle in a white tin or a box of matches with a personalised sticker on top.

What’s the best piece of advice you can give other brides to be?

Stay organised and it will never seem too much. I knew if I let jobs accumulate then it would be stressful and I was determined not to be a bride that said her wedding was ‘stressful’. In the end I actually really enjoyed planning the wedding and look back on it fondly.

Would you recommend Victoria Park to other people getting married?

Absolutely. The venue is very beautiful and number of room options is crazy!
